Ecomusée de Martinique

Anse Figuier, 97211 Rivière-Pilote

Built on an old distillery site, this museum recounts the 2 history of Martinique island from its Amerindian settlement through the colonial era, the slave period and the plantation economy. A particularly telling display is the interior of a typical creole house from the 50’s or 60’s. Please note that there is one room dedicated to Joseph Zobel, the famous writer and author of Rue Case Nègres.
